If you turn off auto-tracking that will at least save you from that one.....last......jolt and whirl around as you are thrown out of the gate. Instead your ship comes to a disturbingly sudden dead stop. |

What Sky Marshal said above - they need to keep it in the 3rd person showing the ship making the jump not thrusting me head first into it.
Edit to add - I like the animation personally, but after five or so jumps it gets tedious. |

Mata Hotaki wrote:CCP Sisyphus wrote:Wading into a can of worms I'm sure, but here goes.
We ARE looking at this and considering what we can do. The back end system used by the client has changed which makes a "turn off" not a real proposition. We are looking at ways to reduce the nausea reaction some players are experiencing through other means.
It would be helpful if we got feedback about what in particular during the jump sequence is causing the most difficulty
I am sorry for those adversely affected,. Thanks for replying in the thread, but... what "can of worms"? It looks perfectly clear. This animation sequence has to be optional. Let me list the particular difficulties. 1. Camera control is taken over by the client. 2. The camera view executes a nausea-inducing arc-and-abrupt-stop movement (main culprit in motion sickness feeling) 3. The "tunnel" animation and the abrupt stop afterwards add to the nauseous feeling 4. These awful effects make both the CPU and GPU run measurably hotter (4-5 degrees, compared to similar activity in Retribution). Yes, I am one of the people who get motion-sick from games. I love FPSes, but I avoid playing them because of motion sickness. EVE was one of the games that did not give me motion sickness until this last patch. It goes without saying, I will cancel my 5 accounts if this is not fixed. I love EVE, but I won't be playing it if it makes me feel nauseous. And to all "apologists" in this thread, especially Ranger 1: if you like the new animation, good for you. Nobody's trying to take it away from you. Just try to convince me how can choice in this matter be a bad thing. We have a choice of whether the camera tracks, whether to use Captain's Quarters, or whether the ships occlude the sun. Jump animations are no different.
To be fair, Ranger did say that he was for ccp remedying the situation for those who become ill from it. |

Someone wrote a while back when this animation came out that this was good for immersion because jumping through a 'real' gate at those speeds would cause nausea and headaches etc and if you can't HTFU then you shouldn't be a capsuleer DAMMIT!!111!!!111ELEVENTY.
Errrrrrr I think traveling at those speeds IRL would do a lot more than make me want to puke LOL
Anyways, for some, it's all about the immersion, baby!!!! |

That measn that when you get podded you go out on street and throw yourself in front of a speeding car? Immersion has a LIMIT! And peopel throwing up while playing is over that limit
I agree with you. I was just repeating someone else's idea of what they think immersion should be; one of those HTFU all-the-time types - while ignoring the issues people have with the animation. |

If you feel the need to be an arrogant jackass when replying to those whom the animation affects...maybe posting on the forums is not the best thing for you.
Why don't you try actually reading many of the former posts and see WHY it is affecting people. |

Ok, what they need to do is add a minigame. Solve minigame, you can turn off animation. Don't solve it after two tries, screw you we hope your lunch wasn't too expensive.
Hey, since ccp is into minigames now, why not? |

I think this is another example of how the CSM is pointless.
I know, right.
I and others have said some twenty pages back that if they showed the animation from the third person perspective and gave you control of the viewing angle, then got rid of that swinging bulllshit - the problem would be solved.
Think of taking the warp drive animation of your ship and plastering it into the jump animation. I don't know if that is possible, but it would really help.
Also, the damn animation is sloppy looking, and half the time it doesn't work - I'm presented with this massive blue/grey cloud blob as if it is trying to present itself from a top/down view. It's quite amusing. |

Ok, vacation is over guys, time to tweak the animation already.
At least the wild swing at the beginning.
Please?
